Exciting news! As you may know - plans are underway for a new park in Seton Portage, aiming to preserve and enhance the area's rich cultural, heritage, and wildlife values.

The SLRD gratefully acknowledges that this proposed park will be situated within the traditional territory of the St’át’imc Tsal'alhmec. The Tsal'alh Administration has provided guidance throughout the park planning process, and the SLRD looks to co-manage the park alongside the Tsal’alh Administration.

Our current Phase: Community Consultation!

About this Project

This park, nestled within the historic Nka'iot Site, promises to be a beautiful addition to the community.

We have created this project page to keep you updated on project developments. Your input is crucial in shaping this project. We'd like to hear your questions, thoughts, and ideas on the proposed objectives for the park, which currently include:

  • an easy grade, bench-cut accessible pedestrian trail for water access
  • picnic areas
  • parking
  • fencing around istkens sites and interpretive signage explaining the cultural significance of the istkens
  • facilities for the local bat population
  • and more

Feedback will help ensure the park reflects the community's needs and desires while honouring its cultural significance.

Let's work together to create a space everyone can enjoy for generations. Share your thoughts on the Park Management Plan and help us bring this vision to life.

How can you help?

  • Attend the community consultation on May 19, 2024 (details in the key dates section).
  • Share your ideas for a park name, or pick from the suggestions provided below.
  • Review and 'like' park names posted by others.
  • 'Ask us a Question' below - where we can respond to you directly or share on this page for others to view.

Your voice matters – let's make this park the best it can be!

The community of Seton and Tsal’alh is in the process of choosing the park's final name. As it is located on Anderson Lake, not Seton Lake, we are temporarily using the name Anderson Lake Park.

Yes, Absolutely. We will collaborate with the Tsal'alh Administration on park signage that incorporates the area’s history. As we confirm the content for the signage, we’ll share it on this page.

  • Share Will there be an opportunity to add in a marina with Fuel services or a place for boat parking? With the closure of the Nquatqua gas station more boats are hitting the lake unprepared and there are no fuel up opportunities. Many people also moore their boats to get off and walk to Seton pub during the summer, sometimes making it unsafe. It would also be great to see a place for biciycle parking, and a little outdoor shower so you can wash your feet/body if needed. on Facebook Share Will there be an opportunity to add in a marina with Fuel services or a place for boat parking? This current project is focused on the designated park area. There are currently no plans for fuel services or a marina at the location.
