Graph 4: This graphic depicts the current waste disposal per person at the Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre in comparison to Landfill 1, Landfill 2, the entire Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) and another British Columbia Regional District. It shows that the amount of waste disposed per person is higher at the Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre than at the two other landfills, as well as the SLRD. Additionally, the Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre has a lower diversion rate compared to the two other landfills. A diversion rate refers to the percentage of waste directed away from disposal at the landfill through practices such as recycling, repurposing or upcycling. The cost to increase diversion at the Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre may be greater than other landfills as it is small and remote.
